AFP exists to:

  • foster professional development and growth
  • promote high ethical standards that build donor trust
  • preserve and enhance philanthropy and volunteerism

Because we are in the midst of significant philanthropic potential as well as risks, AFP is constantly adapting and changing to provide members with unique resources that include web-based training, career planning, international conferences featuring the best in the field, educational and career development opportunities, free research assistance, updates on fundraising trends and new techniques, and a vast network of committed, experienced professionals around the world.

That network starts right here in Washington. Our chapter, founded in 1984, links a dynamic group of fundraising professionals, from newcomers to the field to veterans with more than 20 years´ experience. Whether you are a member of a large development team or a one-person office, AFP Washington is here to support you.

Welcome from the AFP President

Code of Ethics

Ethical fundraising is of paramount importance to AFP and its members. The organization´s guiding principles are laid out in the AFP Code of Ethics and the Donor Bill of Rights, and all members agree to uphold these practices. This dedication to ethical practices is what forges the trust between non-profits and their supporters. Take a moment to read or re-read the documents, and reflect on this important commitment.
